'Extra Extra!' Lou Phelps Has A Mixtape For You

Lou Phelps' new release is being hailed as a 'mixtape', Extra Extra! Phelps has been unleashing videos, such as “New Friends” directed by Igal Perets, with the song itself produced by Kaytranada. Earlier this Fall, he shared another video for lead single Nike Shoe Box.”

The new song and video reference Dionne Warwick’sWalk On By” to convey sorrow over a failing relationship. The video, however, places Phelps in a bit of a paradoxical situation when it's revealed he’s seeing another person behind his girlfriend’s back.

Phelps is a longtime fixture of the Montreal arts scene, having started to make music in 2011 with his brother Kevin, aka KAYTRANADA, and forming a Future-Rap group called The Celestics, resulting in their debut project, Massively Massive.

Using the moniker Lou Phelps, he released Supreme Laziness (2014) and curating Cause I Wanna, an 80-minute DJ mix that featured tracks from Electronic artists like DJ Rashad, RP Boo, and Kyle Hall. In 2017, Phelps released 001: Experiments, his debut project, featuring appearances from Bishop Nehru, Innanet James, and KALLITECHNICS, earning a nomination from Canada's JUNO Awards for Rap Recording of the Year.
