Go Punk With 'Alphabetland': X's First Studio Album In 27 Years Hits Vinyl

After a ‘surprise’ album drop via Bandcamp on April 22, the new X album, Alphabetland, is now available on vinyl. The cd version was released earlier this month and you can also listen on all streaming platforms.

It's only fitting that a seminal Punk band like X makes sure their new album gets a vinyl release, too, for their 8th studio album, and their first studio album in 27 years!

We'll send some love to other independent record stores by letting you know they are selling a special, limited-edition blue vinyl. Rough Trade in the U.S. & U.K. will also be offering a white variant limited to just 400 copies.

Earlier in July, the band released a video for single and title track "Alphabetland", directed by Gilbert Trejo (son of Danny Trejo), and the video features members of Skating Polly and Starcrawler posing as the four members of X.

This album stems from the band's original line up of  Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom, and DJ Bonebrake (who together have not released an album in 35 years) and they started working on the current release in November 2018. Five songs were recorded over the course of two days with producer Rob Schnapf. This past January 2020 the band re-entered the studio to finish recording the album, again with Rob Schnapf and seven more original tracks were laid down, with 11 of those songs appearing on this album.

They've let fans know that tour plans are currently on hold until pandemic restrictions are lifted.
