Hear About The Real 'Lady Long Rider' With 3 Pairs Of Boots On Tower's Live Show + Performance!

3 Pairs of Boots have a new album, Long Rider, coming up on January 29th, and the duo's Andrew Stern joined our Tower Instagram Live show to talk with host Whitney Moore about their current music, while Laura Arias also joined Andrew Stern for a performance at the end of the show! Single "Everywhere I Go" is out now and 3 Pairs of Boots perform it on the show.

Stern discusses the crafting of their Americana sounds and storytelling as well as the things that both he and Arias bring from musical explorations in the past, even working with Spanish and French music. He tells the story of the original Lady Long Rider who inspired their album, Bernice Ende, who experienced "help and graciousness" wherever she traveled, but especially in small towns. Stern and Arias have a close friend who is a documentary filmmaker and began work on the story of the Lady Long Rider. 3 Pairs of Boots was then asked to contribute music to the documentary, and they did. Writing that music led to bigger, more universal themes that left to bigger songs for them.

Stern also speaks about the "challenge" of self-Producing and self-recording on this new album and beyond. If you're new to it, it can be difficult to "get started" due to having to learn the technical side of things. They do use the "industry standard" of ProTools and Stern feels that he's "constantly getting better at it" through use. He's also taken advantage of having some knowledgeable and reliable friends who are mix engineers in LA. Another good friend is helping them gear up and set up for a lot more live streaming in early 2021 in support of their album! This is the power of sharing knowledge and expertise.
