Following the success of Demon Records' highly-collectable 7" picture disc releases of T. Rex's 1973 singles, we now turn to the 1972 singles, again featuring photos from the Keith Morris archive. • The third release is the yet another classic, "Metal Guru", originally released in May 1972, a second preview of the forthcoming album "The Slider", and these days amongst Marc Bolan's best remembered songs. • It was the band's fourth UK number 1, where it stayed for four weeks (spending fourteen weeks in the charts in total). It knocked The Pipes and Drums and The Military Band of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards' "Amazing Grace" off the top spot, and was itself replaced by Don McLean's "Vincent". • Neither of the B-sides, "Lady" and "Thunderwing" (now in the order they appeared on the original single release), appeared on "The Slider" album, released in July 1972.
