Macromantics is Romy Hoffman, a Melbourne based artist who began her music career in the mid 90' as a 15 year-old guitarist for Ben Lee's first band, Noise Addict. She first discovered hip hop on a US tour with the band, returned to Australia, picked up a microphone and started rapping. From the sing-along sounds of 'Scorch' to the self-reflective 'Love Thyself', there is something for everyone on this album. Braggadocio battle raps sit followed by the eerily spooky. Miss macro takes you to the dark side on 'Fistful of Dallas', then sugar coats her words with the up-tempo 'Apple Crumble'. This is a woman of many musical loves - you can count at least three death metal references in there. Even Melanie Griffith gets a shout out. Hip hop may have never sound so fresh. Produced largely by Sydney based maestro Buchman (Tony Buchen), 'Moments in Movement' features guest appearances from renowned American rapper Sage Francis on 'Locksmith' and Melbourne rock n' soul band Ground Components on 'Firstfull of Dallas'. Macromantics brings her new material to life accompanied by DJ Amy, proving she is an inimitable talent both on record and on the stage.
