Limited colored vinyl LP pressing. Immortal, from the Norwegian town Bergen, have established themselves as one of the most important black metal bands in the world. Formed by Demonaz (guitars) and Abbath (bass/vocals) in 1990 the group has issued nine trailblazing full-length slabs in their 25 plus year career. 1999 transitional release At the Heart of Winter finds Abbath and drummer Horgh working as a duo for the first time following the departure of Demonaz due to severe tendinitis (although he still provides his signature lyrics). Produced by Hypocrisy's Peter Tägtgren, the Norwegian black metal/German thrash hybrid pointed to a bright future with the trio of epics "Withstand the Fall of Time," "Tragedies Blows at Horizon" and "Years of Silent Sorrow."
