Multiple Wammie award winner (Washington Area Music Awards) and recent AFIM award winner, Al Petteway releases his first ever all solo CD. Al is best known for a series of Celtic-styled instrumental albums for the Maggie's Music label featuring his acoustic guitar work in ensemble settings. Al and Amy White won the AFIM best instrumental acoustic recording for "Gratitude: Groovemasters Vol. 3" in 2000. "Shades of Blue" finds Petteway leaning more in a blues direction than his past Celtic efforts. This CD features all complete unedited takes and closes with the tune "Requiem," a one take completely improvised recording on the morning of September 12th, 2001.
