Twelve inch vinyl pressing. 2012 release from Helsinki based artist/producer Pietu Arvola AKA Albert Swarm. Wake is a somewhat multiple meaning album with sporadic odds and ends. A year in the making, Swarm's second album shows a momentous shift towards dark, meditative techno that is equal parts industrial and personal. The seven tracks on Wake move from one to the other like a high-speed bullet train heading towards a certain destination. Overall, the range Albert Swarm possesses is exceptional as he continues to map out his way as a musician. With Wake, imagery is key. Written on trains, in cabins, at home, and on the move the setting could easily be a far north snow covered forest, a vast metropolitan area, or even the space within a Berlin nightclub just before sunrise.
