Since their inception in early 2008, Black Marmot had been honing their sound at practices, living-room songwriting sessions and out in front of their local Boston following. Based around the music and lyrics of Linde Clark, the band entered a frenzy of songwriting, arrangement, and composition that resulted in over 25 original songs. As their sound evolved, Black Marmot began developing concepts for a debut album. In May of 2009 the band chose the intimate atmosphere of Wonka Sound studio in Lowell, Massachusetts to begin sessions for their release, what would later become 'Run Home'. Run Home features intricate arrangements, vocal harmonies, and powerful, often personal lyrics. The album begins on a light note with roots in reggae and blues on Indifference and continues in that vein with the silky harmonies of Sunburn. Blue Mountain is the group's venture into alt-country, but the songs quickly take a darker turn. A story of a stalker is told in A Few Degrees with a fierce chorus and haunting guitar. Run Home culminates with the sonic wall of Going Going Gone, Part II and then quietly drifts away like distant thunder with Hurricanes. The album reaches into the depths of Black Marmot's collective creativity. Even as the songs' styles and moods change, the overall sound of the band is unmistakeable. And although each song could stand alone, together as Run Home they define the band over it's first two years and become a vibrant work of art.
