Absolute Uncertainty is the latest release from South Jersey's power pop veterans Blank Pages. The band has teamed up with Kool Kat Musik to release their fourth collection of irresistible hooks that mine memorable melodies from a variety of pop influences. The band's sound is a blend of familiar references ranging from the old school (Big Star, Beatles and Raspberries) to the modern power pop purveyors like Jason Falkner, Mike Viola and Sloan. The band recorded Absolute Uncertainty with up and coming Philadelphia engineer Jeff White, whose credits include recording, mixing and mastering projects for Philly bands Audible and the Swivel Chairs. White's talents skills bring a new focus and energy to the band's sound. Lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Greg Potter focuses on earnest lyrics and memorable hooks. More than your average pop tunesmith, Potter's songs have depth and inventive changes that keep you coming back for more. From the straightforward pop-rock of the album opener "Let it All Out" to the acoustic introspection of "I've Said All I Can Say," the record moves seamlessly from the giddy sounds of fuzzy tweed amps, to sweeter moments drenched in jangling acoustics. The band features Jason Brown on bass and guitar, Ed McCaffrey on drums, Jon Mollenhauer on guitar and Greg Potter on guitar and lead vocal. The band's unique style of power pop is inspired by such bands as Badfinger, Beach Boys, Beatles, Big Star, Byrds, Cheap Trick, Elvis Costello, Electric Light Orchestra, Jason Falkner, Jellyfish, Kinks, Knack, Paul McCartney and Wings, Matthew Sweet, Monkees, Pearlfishers, Police, Raspberries, Sloan, Superdrag, Velvet Crush, XTC, and the Who.
