Produced by two time Grammy award winner Karl Richardson (credits include Eric Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Bee Gees, Barbra Streisand), Borrowed Toys 'Better' consists of twelve original songs written by band members Joe Ciaudelli and Nancy Menhart. Borrowed Toys will donate the 2012 sales to the Lion's Club Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation charity. Fidelco breeds, trains and places guide dogs for the blind. The album features an all-star line-up of musicians, including New York studio staples Kevin Hupp on drums and Mike Leslie on bass. "I first met this Kevin and Mike when they were playing in the Rick Derringer band," states Joe Ciaudelli. "Rick has been a major influence in my guitar playing. Naturally I was thrilled when Kevin and Mike signed on to our project. They laid a solid rhythm foundation for the songs." Producer Karl Richardson further commented, "By the time I got involved in the project, Joe & Nancy had already assembled a top notch team of musicians and engineers. I immediately found the songs fun and accessible." The Songs: 1) I Know You Know A power pop song which is known by fans from the band's live performances. 2) Wanna Go Back To Sleep, A driving song with punk flair that fantasizes about being part of a spy duo. 3) He Dreams A cheerful proclamation of mutual infatuation. 4) Jenny Folksy and dreamy song of young love 5) A Lot Like Love A tingly tune with a jazzy drum beat about the discovery of love 6) You Should Have Been Mine Reflective song of what might have been with strong and passionate vocals 7) She Won't Do What She's Told An upbeat pop song about a wild girl that drives her parents crazy. It features Curt Ramm from Bruce Stringsteen's E Street Band on trumpet as well as Bill Holloman on saxophones. 8) Let Him Go Starts with a tribal beat then speaks of an emotional struggle with love. 9) Better The title track which describes a victorious rebirth that can occur as the result of individual perseverance. 10) Common Point of View A call to our elected officials to put aside politics and get working on change for the common good. 11) I Wanna Rock A gritty anthem that has a southern rock feel fueled by New London stalwart John Fries on slide guitar. 12) My Own Little World. A bohemian style mix of exotic string instruments.
