Carolyn Cruso, better known for her hammered dulcimer, flute, and guitar work with the late Robert Almblade, has been surprising audiences around the country with the fact that she is also a talented singer/songwriter. As a multi-instrumentalist she performed professionally in both the United States and Europe for over a decade. She continues to tour nationwide as an instrumentalist and now also as a singer/songwriter. She is equally at home in both genres, making her a versatile perfomer. Cruso continues to celebrate the release of her singer/songwriter CD 'As Clear A Hue', a body of work developed over the last seven years. The CD was chosen as the top ten for the folk category in Maximum Ink Music Magazine's 'Deserted Island Ten Pack -2001'. Carolyn's performances are powerful and emotionally provocative. She possesses a rawness that promotes an easy intimacy with her audiences. Her lyrics explore love, loss and regeneration. Through thoughtfulness and a keen sense of poetry her songs convey a compelling sense of longing. Her playing is dynamic and expressive. She's been honored and inspired to share stages with Peter Case, Peter Mayer, Majorie Richards, Orville Johnson, Holly Figeroa, Libby Kirkpatrick, Mare Wakefield, Randal Bays, Jim Craig, Stanley Greenthal, Brad Warren, TR Kelley, Larry Murante, and Lojo Russo.
