Genre: Rock

'This band is really very original and out of the box. They play in full freedom and without referring back to precise models. Without many resources behind they have created a truly progressive and exciting show.' --- Italy 'Chest Rockwell is a good band indeed, but I do not regard them as a typical Progressive act. The combination of Independent Rock with elements of Progressive Rock will certainly turn them into an instantaneous favorite among young listeners, mostly habituated to "modern" Progressive. Highly recommended for fans of "Porcupine Tree", "Riverside", "The Mars Volta", "Muse", "Iron Maiden", and so on.' --- Marcelo Trotta ( Brazil 'I can only make compliments to these experimentalists of rock.' --- Italy 'Changing themes accompanies the listener throughout it's path, showing undoubtedly the considerable capacity and technique of this band and tingly vein of composition. It is a work accessible to a wide audience.' 70/100 --- Andrea Marchegiani ( Italy 'I usually stay away from the indie music genres, but Total Victory is such an interesting album with very quirky songs and their structures. Well done and I think many will like it, especially if you are into indie music that takes some chances and experiments a bit.' 3.5/5 --- 'Combining a variety of styles like alternative, indie, pop and prog, Chest Rockwell is a young band that needs to be heard.' --- Jon Neudorf (Best of 2009 'At this point it is clear that the band has defined it's proposal, consistent in style and in sound-image relationship. Though one finds references offered before by any of the monsters of rock music, including progressive, in originality what Chest Rockwell gives us is greater than the influence of other bands. Congratulations! CHEST ROCKWELL, thanks for the albums, and already I feel like listening to a new album.' 9/10 --- Alfredo TAPIA-CARRETO ( Mexico '...a beautiful vitality...a breakthrough musically speaking' --- Music Waves ( France '...undeniably contains enough distinctive features to attract the attention of those with a more open-minded perspective. Everything about the band - from their name to the faintly disturbing cover art - spells a kind of genuine quirkiness, and a desire to push boundaries in a way that avoids the overly cerebral, out-of-left-field approach of many contemporary bands, while retaining that intriguing quality that is essential to good progressive rock.' 5.5/6 --- Raffaella Berry ( Uzbekistan 'Chest Rockwell has made a name for itself as an unpredictable act, incorporating a multitude of different stylistic elements on their albums as well as in each individual composition. Challenging music taking on a number of different stylistic expressions in a creative manner. I'll give this one my recommendation; one of the better and also one of the most intriguing albums I've encountered so far in 2009.' 5.5/6 --- Olav M Bjornsen ( Uzbekistan 'Chest Rockwell is a pleasant surprise. They make excellent use of multiple clean guitars, maintaining an effervescent sound that doesn't get bogged down, yet keep some delightful treats tucked away in their 2009 album.' 3/5 --- Robert Brown, Jr ( 'Once again, they record all in just three days. This must be the fastest group in the country at the present time. They assert themselves. They do not lack much left for them to hoist the big one.' 3.5/5 --- Jean-Pierre Lhoir ( Belgium 'This young and quirky indie band shows a breadth and scope that make them a more than viable hope for the area's rock future. There's a vision here that gives these guys an edge over peers...a wide array of textures and styles. Total Victory is a solid effort... I'll be interested to hear them progress further.' --- Todd Zachritz, News4U ( 'this music deserves to be heard by a wide audience and would be enjoyed by a cross-spectrum of progressive fans... a very classy performance that bears scrutiny against the work of far more exalted peers Rush, Riverside and Dream Theater. A great album and definitely a band to watch: if they can stay together and improve then they will be some force!' 8/10 --- Alex Torres, Dutch Progressive Rock Page ( Netherlands '...most certainly a charming aquaintance...frequent changes in intensity, pace and sound. Well worth investigating by the adventurous music fan.' 9/10 --- Windhawk ( Norway ' example of a band that can pave new musical ground... provides a fantastic musical journey for the listener. They manage to create music that should have a large audience because the music is so accessible and melodic without sacrificing the quality.' --- Ulf Backstrøm ( Norway 'Take a hard left into the glorious, quirky, passionate, urgency that defines Chest Rockwell's unique brand of art-rock. These tunes up the ante with even more risk-taking wrapped in lush trappings that will leave progheads beaming. Fervent, fiery inspired works with the perfect blend of Rockwell weirdness. These Kentuckians must have done some serious wood shedding to pull this off.' --- Warren Barker, Progression Magazine 57 'This group has positioned itself in the gray zone between the radio-friendly pop and complex rock, and at their best they are able to create music that both inspires and challenges.' --- Tarkus Magazine 49 ( Norway 'Chest Rockwell is and remains a unique company... there is a clear musical affinity.' --- The IO Pages 87 ( Netherlands 'Tracks are very varied...An interesting album, though not the easiest to understand.' 7/10 --- ironyzator.livejournal Russia 'Chest Rockwell certainly know how to inject musical dynamics and gymnastics into their music and they do it well. Chest Rockwell continues to progress musically and compositionally. The performances sound better, tighter and more assured. If you thought their last release was good wait to till you hear Total Victory.' --- Jerry Lucky, author of The Progressive Rock Files, 20th Century of Rock & Roll: Progressive Rock, The Psychedelic Rock Files ( Canada 'the band is able to take a variety of musical styles and come up with a record that is truly inventive and imaginative. Though there is a lot of variety and quirkiness displayed here, this is music that could appeal to a large audience if given the chance. It is nice to hear a band not afraid to take chances and push their musical limits while still retaining an accessibility that many fans of melodic music could relate to. Overall, this is a strong effort and one that I recommend wholeheartedly.' 4/5 --- Jon Neudorf ( 'Chest Rockwell play a progressive rock style of music. Not wanting, though, to have their sound pigeonholed they stretch the style's edges to make their own signature sound. If you're willing to get on the band's musical Total Victory bus you'll find that there's a lot of that magic for you to enjoy.' 8.9/10 --- CW Ross (Indie Music Stop) '(Total Victory) resembles Chest Rockwell vs. The World in many ways, but is better in virtually all respects... you owe it to yourself to order this one. These guys should be a lot more well-known. If life was fair, this album would be their breakthru to the big time.' --- Fred Trafton ( '...clean, chiming and hungrily searching out a new soundscape...the band is very able in all areas, rhythmically tight, airy, and has a bundle of ideas. A different and very enjoyable band' --- Derek Walker (Phantom Tollbooth) Read more:
