The English music hall is an institution for mass entertainment of long standing, and Colyn Davies' classic 1956 album was one of the first attempts at recording a representative sampling of music hall material. Filled with typical songs and recitations performed in the English music halls of the latter part of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20 century, Cockney Music Hall Songs And Recitations remains a folk classic. As a singer and actor, Colyn Davies appeared in many British films and performed in theaters and cabarets throughout Europe. This 1956 classic features the great performer on vocals and guitar. All selections newly re-mastered.
