Since moving to Bloomington in 1987, David England has played guitar in several bands in town and in Indianapolis. In November 1996, he joined up with his brother Jon, playing original acoustic music as The England Brothers . They released their first CD, 'Return Of The Grievous Anglers' in 1999. The record featured David Steele on several songs, playing mandolin as well as guitar, Jason Wilber, guitarist for John Prine, adding slide guitar on 'My Only One', and David Rawlings playing guitar on 'One Son Dead' along with Michael Reynolds (Pin Monkey) and Janne Henshaw on harmonies. In 2002 David teamed up with long time friend, David Steele to work on England's solo record, 'Almost True'. The record was recorded with both Davids playing all of the instruments with some help by Matt Brookshire's bass on 'Big Surprise' and percussion on a few tunes by Paul Mahern, who also engineered most of the record. Paul has made many great records as producer and/or engineer, including bands,The Mysteries Of Life, The Pieces, and John Mellencamp. Multi-talented Steele has played guitar with Lucinda Williams, John Prine and Steve Earle, as well as many others. He is also the drummer for the Esquires, a great cover band that includes David Rawlings on guitar and vocals and Gillian Welch on bass. England and Steele plan on playing some shows in Nashville, TN and Indiana to promote 'Almost True'. David has recently finished recording a new solo album, 'Little Death', to be released in the Spring of 2009.
