Debra Lyn is originally from upstate New York. Her musical interest was sparked and nurtured by her grandmother, Betsy Lewis, who was also a performer during the World War II era. Betsy gave Debra her first guitar when she was twelve years old and encouraged her to learn to play and sing. Before too long Debra was playing music around the campfire, entering talent contests and performing with local country music bands. Along with her band Cimmeron, Debra won the Northeast Country Music Association's "Sunrise Award" for best new country act. Cimmeron released the Indie single "My Heart's True to You," written by Debra and Ed Legenbauer, which received airplay on country radio stations from New York to California. In 2002, Debra and her band, Soulgrass, completed their self titled CD. Two singles, including "You Didn't Come Home," an original written by Debra, were released nationally on the "Prime Cuts of Bluegrass" compilation CD. Nearly 400 stations reported airplay for these singles. The Soulgrass version of "Love Please Come Home" was also added to the playlist for cable television's "Music Choice." Soulgrass performed at numerous venues throughout the southeastern U.S., such as Nashville, Tennessee's famous Station Inn. Debra and Soulgrass were also featured performers on many live radio and television programs in Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina and Tennessee. Debra decided to get back to her "country" roots and teamed up with Jeff Silverman, of Palette Productions in Nashville, TN. Jeff is a veteran producer, songwriter, accomplished musician and singer. Together Debra and Jeff have written and produced 10 songs for her "I Can't Remember To Forget You" CD. The title track was also chosen to be the flagship music video project for Sowelu Entertainment, with Shari Belafonte and Sam Behrens and can be seen on Debra's official website. 'I Can't Remember To Forget You' was originally released as a 7-song EP and introduced Debra Lyn to the world. One of the most popular songs on iTunes has been 'I'll Always Miss The Love I Left Behind.' A unique remake of Harry & Sandy Chapins' classic song 'Cats in the Cradle' was released as a single last summer and has also received quite of bit of attention and is running high on the popularity graphs in the United States and many other countries.
