Don Cornell was one of the coterie of Italian-American crooners to come to the fore in the post-war years, and who enjoyed his heyday in what is often called the "golden age of popular music" in the early '50s. Beginning his career singing with the Red Nichols band, he had his first hits with Sammy Kaye's orchestra during the war and immediate post-war years, before going solo and reeling off a string of chart entries through the early '50s and into the rock 'n' roll era, adapting his style to suit the changing tastes in the pop market. This great-value 50-track 2-CD set comprises all his career hits in the Billboard, Cash Box, Your Hit Parade and UK charts, including his 1954 UK No. 1 and US No. 2 "Hold My Hand", and his other Top 5 hits "That's My Desire", with Sammy Kaye, "Careless Hands", "I'll Walk Alone" and "I'm Yours", and also his hits duetting with other artists. He was one of the vocalists who very much captured the musical zeitgeist of his era, and this will bring back many nostalgic memories for those who were around at the time, as well as being a fitting recognition of a talented artists whose legacy is often overshadowed by his high-profile peers
