The smooth sassy and infectious vocals of Dr. M. Jeanne Dolphus Cottonwill puts you in a joyful mood with her catchy tunes about love. Dr. M. Jeanne Dolphus Cotton........of Jeanne & The Darlings Her music career began very early in life as a little girl of four years old standing on a box singing. Later, her sisters and daughter--Dee, Pat, Vivian and Paula-- joined in, and they became The Dolphus Singers and traveled professionally with their father and her daughter's grandfather as manager of the group. In '67, The Dolphus Singers became Jeanne & the Darlings and was signed by Al Bell for Stax Records, produced by Isaac Hayes and David Porter, with Booker T. and the MGs as the studio band. In addition to their recordings, the group served as studio background vocals for the Stax family. Though the in-between years have kept the Reverend Dr. very busy as Founder, Minister and CEO of Trinity Universal Center, Inc. (a center for positive youth, family and personal development) and Dr. M. Jeanne Dolphus Cotton and Assoc., a counseling firm, she still finds time for her first love--music. She is forever working on solo music projects (composing and arranging), conducting motivational seminars, delivering a Sunday morning message, or counseling families; but she's never too busy and always quick to join her daughters on stage, adding to that very special blend of the Cotton harmonies, a "signature voice" that resonates with the experience of decades and is so soulful, while simultaneously delivering a message of love, empowerment and unity.
