Commissioned by the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in 1956, Duke Ellington's SUCH SWEET TENDER is a 12-part suite inspired by the works of William Shakespeare. Featuring songs with titles eluding to the playwright such as "Sonnet for Caesar," "Lady Mac," and "The Star-Crossed Lovers" the album features Ellington like you've never heard him before. This remastered re-release features original liner note by producer Irving Townsend alongside newly added liner notes by Bill Berry and Phil Schaap.
