While Tex-Mex music is commonly thought of as the folk music that's popular along the Texas-Mexico border, ironically, it knows no borders when it comes to musical influences. Several selections on this album reach back to Germany and Poland for their roots, while a rhythm like cumbia goes back to Africa by way of Colombia. Still another tune, like the huapango, will have it's background firmly planted in Mexico.
