2014 remastered collection with extensive liner notes by author Bill Dahl. Freddy Fender (June 4, 1937 - October 14, 2006), born Baldemar Garza Huerta in San Benito, Texas, United States, was a Mexican-American Tejano, country and rock and roll musician, known for his work as a solo artist and in the groups Los Super Seven and the Texas Tornados. He is best known for his 1975 hits 'Before the Next Teardrop Falls' and the subsequent remake of his own 'Wasted Days and Wasted Nights'. Freddy was loved by fans of country, rockabilly and Tex-Mex-many of whom spoke no English. He started out singing in Spanish, and does so here, doing versions of his smashes Before the Next Teardrop Falls; Wasted Days and Wasted Nights, and Secret Love plus Vaya Con Dios, and more! Exciting, dynamic, rootsy and full of heart and soul, PARA SIEMPRE EN MI CORAZON delivers a gorgeous mix of traditional songs and bluesy roots music, rarely heard in today's over commercialized, overproduced programmed music. San Antonio Express-News critic Ramiro Burr called Freddy Fender an 'American treasure.'
