Title: Featuring

Poised to start a revolution with such songwriting as "Milwaukee Step" and "Word Peace Going," the Greg Jones Band is nothing short of an authentic Old School approach to Contemporary Music. A myriad of experiences have come to shape Dr. Greg Jones into the performer he is today. Growing up in Compton CA and a natural performer, he tapped-danced with the Eugene Jackson Review and began singing and playing piano while serving in the military. Currently, either alone or with members of his band, Jones performs in California 'about 20 weekends a year in festivals and private events. The rotating cast of band members all have tremendous chemistry, and an ability to impress audiences with both vibe, sound and style. The CD features cameos from both, Jazz Bassist Marshal Hawkins and Blues Guitar Master Terry "Big T" DeRouen, two legends never before recorded together. Dave Pruitt (whose guitar licks have made it onto many popular records), Guitarist extraordinaire Walter Foley, Bassist Gene Thorpes, Drummer Toby "from Chicago" Williams, Scott Fulton, recording artist/vocalist Brittan Egnozzi (from Lipstick Red), and in the horn section: Richard Cole & Ken "theloverman" Meredith and Wynell Montgomery (all three of which traveled with Solomon Burke for 14 years), and Trombonist James Pierce. Wynell Montgomery has worked with the likes of: Billy Preston, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, O. C. Smith, Lorez Alexandria, Nancy Wilson, Rich Little, Richard Tee, Steve Gadd, Tom Scott, Siegfried and Roy, Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, Chuck Rainey, Johnny Brown ('of Good-times), Ronnie Laws, Joe Sample, Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Earth, Wind, & Fire Horns, Mavis Staples, and The Rolling Stones. The songs are all original and catchy, written/conceived somewhere between the last year and the last 30 years, but a true group effort. Most of the players are considered co-authors (a rare thing these days) with a goal of stretching the boundaries of the blues from one end to another. But wait...there's more! The group also aims to use this music to bring attention to an important cause or two, so be on the lookout for those connections (see for more on that).
