Israeli-born Hezi Fanian is a leading tenor vocalist, violinist and songwriter of Iranian inheritance. With a large repertoire in both Hebrew and Farsi, crossing many musical genres, his powerful enthralling stage show is entertaining audiences in Israel and around the world. He displays a mixture of Persian culture and folklore inherited from his parents who emigrated from Iran to Israel before he was born. At the age of 6, his father started teaching him to play the violin and within just a few years, he had mastered the instrument and made his first live appearance, singing and playing. He is currently regarded as the leading Farsi vocalist in the Middle East and in the same league as the top singers in Iran, even though he was not born there. His sensational vocal performance whilst playing violin before Iranian expatriates was just of the highlights of his many years on the stage. Eight albums have been recorded to date, comprising of five albums in Hebrew and three albums in Farsi. The recent album contains traditional Iranian folklore as well as a few compositions in Kurdish and Arabic. Two cultures were united when he wrote Hebrew and Farsi nuances and lyrics to the traditional Israeli song Hava Nagilla. Hezi Fanian has also taken part in several recordings by the renowned Aramaic ethnic group Nash Didan (Our People). In 1995, he released his debut album highlighting his unique ability to combine traditional Iranian music with Middle Eastern oriental flavor. AMOS OREN from the leading Israeli daily newspaper Yediot Aharonot wrote: 'The successful joining of dreams originating from within his home and a distant homeland whilst incorporating the influences of the Middle East along with a welcome occasional electronic touch, provide the listener with an enjoyable compilation of songs that provide joy and yet touch the heart' Today, Hezi Fanian is in the final stages of his fourth Hebrew language album based on well known Iranian compositions. Among those who have contributed to this latest production: the late Ehud Manor, Yoav Ginay, Yossi Gispan, Dudu Tasa, Abie Kazas, Asher Peddy, Yasmin Even, Avee Ifrach, Arieh Berkovitch, Daniel Varfolomeyev and many others.
