*The following item and photo ran in my column in The Vancouver Sun Saturday, March 13, 2010. Malcolm Parry* LIVE WIRE: The moviemaker-aiding PitchMarket organization staged an Academy Awards party in Players Chophouse on Sunday. Saddened when local costume designer Monique Prudhomme was edged for an Oscar, attendees applauded Kathryn Bigelow being the first female best director (for The Hurt Locker). That win encouraged Jaclyn A. Smith, 26, who is a showbiz all-rounder and then some. The stage-film-TV actress-comedienne also writes, produces and directs for the screen. As a singer-songwriter, she's released a six-song EP, Elevator Goodbyes, and it's Pocket Full Of Words video. Wearing five-inch heels to the party, she was as poised as you'd expect of a dancer trained by the Kirov and American Ballet Theatre companies. She's also an environmental activist who produces Internet viral videos to benefit the World Wildlife Fund. A bright spark, in other words, who happened to write and star in the "very dark" movie Glow as a woman addicted to battery acid. Jul 12, 2011 Pocket Full of Words Airs on Knowledge Network Canadian Singer/songwriter, Jaclyn A. Smith (Jax) recently became a member of artshuffle. Ca -- a new website created by B.C.'s public broadcaster, Knowledge Network for artists to share, discover, promote and broadcast creative work online. In a few short months, Jax learned that the music video for Pocket Full of Words from her newly released EP, Elevator Goodbyes was selected to air this summer on the Knowledge Network. Congrats Jax! You can check out Pocket Full Of Words on the Knowledge Network on July 28th, Aug 11th, Aug 18th, and Nov 17th.
