Here is 'Envisage,' first time on CD! Documenting the Classic Piano Trio of Jay d'Amico, Milt Hinton and Bob Rosengarden. 'Jay d'Amico plays piano with a gossamer touch, canny sense of style, and nicely connected ideas. Not only do his lines flow legato, but there is a certain shapeliness to each solo and a tangible sense of touch, like good sculpture. D'Amico affords each piece a polished conception: you can follow the thread through the arranged fabric.' (Bouchard, 'DownBeat Magazine') 'This CD was recorded in 1982 and released as an album the following year. The sound is warm-likely a result of the equipment used back in those days but also a reflection of the deep feelings of camaraderie felt among the three musicians. And the music stands up. It is as fresh today as it was in the early 80's. Seasoned veterans Hinton and Rosengarden provide the solid rhythm so necessary to a debut album. Jay uses it to full advantage. He is versatile, he is sensitive, and he swings.' (David G. Berger) 'Excellent piano playing . . . improvisation is original, creative, clever and yet, still retains musicality as opposed to cliches - a trap that some of the big-name piano players fall into.' (Charlie Ventura, Jr.) 'With 'Envisage,' a direct example of Jay's 'feel' and easy connection with the highly noted members of the trio, bassist Milt Hinton and drummer Bob Rosengarden, we hear the communication that is the nexus of jazz ensemble performance providing an effortless listening experience.' (Michael Carlson)
