This is possibly the most comprehensive overview of the early career of Jimmy Nolen, one of the most influential guitarists of the 20th Century. Today Nolen's fame rests almost entirely on the innovative work he did as lead guitarist for the James Brown Orchestra between 1965 and his death in 1983. The music magazine 'Mojo' rated Jimmy Nolen No 12 in it's survey of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" some years ago. In this package we are concerned solely with Jimmy Nolen's musical journey until 1961 and over the 55 tracks featured herein you can hear Jimmy's outstanding guitar work on 78s and 45s released under his own name and as a much in demand session guitarist and touring band member with artists like Monte Easter, Johnny Otis and George Smith
