Title: Story of Noahs Ark
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS

'The Story of Noah's Ark' is a first for JoAnn in two primary ways. It's the first time her music followed a story, and it's also the first time she strayed from her usual soothing vibes. Depicting God's wrath, her fingers were "flying frantically into keyboard parts unknown." Unlike her other music, typically finished rather quickly, 'Noah' was created over a period of time. JoAnn treated this particular album with reverence, giving serious thought to each step. Like her other music, however, nothing was ever written down. With JoAnn's determination to follow the story of Noah as closely as possible, her ability to interpret the events so accurately (and with such command over the keyboard), and her son Paul's addition of a few key special effects, this entire album draws the listener in completely and believably to this Biblical favorite. A brief description from scripture accompanies each component of this masterful musical storytelling. As Paul remarked, "This is not your children's Noah!" Indeed. From the album's 'Prologue' and 'Perfect World,' the listener is whisked to the 'Invasion of Evil' and God's disappointment ('God's Tears') and privy to His assignment for Noah, the elimination of Evil, and God's promise of a new beginning. The album's tone mimics that of the Bible story, wending through sobriety, tension, fear, and eventual optimism. The loading of the animals (from 'Barkers and Woofers' and 'Wide Loads and Other Slowpokes,' to 'Turkey Shufflers' and 'Belly Crawlers') is lighthearted, providing the listener's imagination to witness the loading of so many different kinds of critters! With the conclusion of 'The Rainbow' comes a sense of having been right beside Noah throughout his journey and greater appreciation for his test of faith... and it's reward. 'The Story of Noah's Ark' is the first of many of JoAnn's CDs to be made available thru CD Baby. Trivia: JoAnn's son, Paul, balked at sitting at the piano growing up (he also balked at the sight of blood but became a doctor!). However, the musical genes were obviously passed on to him, too. While he is unable to read music, he hears it in his head and manages to capture it on a keyboard. JoAnn used one of his beautiful compositions as the basis for 'Perfect World' in this album. A few comments on 'The Story of Noah's Ark': "Just heard the CD and we both love it! Maybe it is the best you have ever done! Today I put Humpty (the sound system) back together again, and the first thing that we played was your CD. We both thought that it was amazing! Susan thinks that it would be a natural for an interpretive dance thing. I just think that it is great, and I would like to purchase a few CDs for friends and relatives. Let me know how to do this. Thanks for the CD, and keep up the wonderful work!" J. G. and S. G. "I liked all of it, but I think I liked the whimsical parts the best, such as the cats and the turkey. I have no idea how you make all of that sound all by yourself, especially the subtleties of it.... I don't think I can comprehend how much work it must have been to make that CD." S. Z. "Noah is another masterpiece, and you're up there with Ravel and a couple of others (who have slipped my mind) - only THEY didn't have sound effects!" M. S. "I love the animal interpretations!" P. T. "Thank you so much for the BEAUTIFUL CD on Noah's Ark... K and I are entertained nightly. She rocks back and forth to the music.... Music speaks to her, and it is one of her joys... along with chocolate." M. C. (K is her adult child with special needs)
