Number 1 Billboard blues-rock guitar virtuoso and singer-songwriter Joe Bonamassa will release his seventh solo studio album (and ninth solo release), the Ballad of John Henry. The album is on his own independent label J&R Adventures, and features twelve tracks, split between Bonamassa originals and selections by songwriters including Ailene Bullock, Tom Waits and Tony Joe White. The album continues Bonamassas fruitful association with producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Black Crowes), and showcases both his famed guitar heroics and what an accomplished and versatile vocalist he's become. The Ballad of John Henrys covers include versions of Tony Joe Whites -As the Crow Flies,- Tom Waits -Jockey Full of Bourbon, Ailene Bullocks, Funkier Than a Mosquitos Tweeter, Anthony Newley/Leslie Bricusses, Feelin Good, and the Sam Brown tune Stop! by Greg Sutton/Bruce Brody. Bonamassa is again backed by the stellar players Carmine Rojas (bass) and Anton Fig, Bogie Bowles (both on drums) as well as Rick Melick (keyboards) and Blondie Chaplin (rhythm guitar). The album is also Bonamassas first to feature horns, courtesy of Lee Thornburg and David Woodford.
