Singer-Songwriter Johnny Edson was born and raised on the Texas-Louisiana border and his musical style reflects the musical gumbo indigenous to that region with Western Swing the dominant influence. His five albums of songs are a melodic blend of humor and pathos. Johnny Edson has been making music since he first learned the ukulele in junior high school in Beaumont. After a stint in the advertising business in Houston he moved to Austin with the goal of becoming a working songwriter. His first band played on 6th Street- literally on the street with an open guitar case for tips. They caught the attention of some club owners and were soon opening for the likes of B.W. Stevenson, Doug Sahm and magician Harry Anderson. His songs were also covered by Marcia Ball, Ain't Misbehavin' and CPR.
