From deep in the vaults comes a digital re-release of their unplugged "Jazz" LP featuring the music of Duke Ellington and Fats Waller. The additional bonus tracks comprise the entire Jonathan & Darlene Disco Singles Collection from 1979 as originally premiered on the Dr. Demento Radio Program. Jonathan & Darlene Edward's 1957 debut album awarded them a 48 star review in Downbeat Magazine. Their second recording, Jonathan & Darlene in Paris won them the 1960 Grammy for best comedy album. Though this award category somewhat bewildered them it never the less continued a 25 year recording "career" which culminated in this final album originally released in 1982. When Jonathan & Darlene Edwards put their indelible mark on any style of music it's very hard to erase ! Indeed their jazz "interpretations" of these classic Ellington, Waller and Strayhorn compositions are a unique listening experience. It's difficult to imagine how Duke, Fats, and Billy would have reacted to these performances.
