Drummer, percussionist, composer, bandleader, music director and interdisciplinary arts activist Kahil El'Zabar will be turning 60 years the week of the release of Follow the Sun, his 60th album! Featured is Los Angeles-based vocalist Dwight Trible who combines vocal virtuosity with musicianship and improvisational skills to the delight of audiences and musicians alike. In addition to his own group Dwight has also worked with Pharoah Sanders, Horace Tap Scott, Charles Lloyd, Kenny Burrell, Kenny Garrett, Della Reese and many others. And there's a sub-plot to the story Ari Brown performs with his mentor Duke Payne, one of the few jazz bagpipes players.
