She was real blues history! In her youth Katie was a member of the Otis Redding Band; then she started her own career. As a child she listened to the boogie woogie stars Pete Johnson, Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis. She also learned a lot from the musicians who lived in her neighborhood - Lightnin' Slim and Slim Harpo - who created the Swamp Blues. On this CD - a live-recording from Greece - you can hear what great artist Katie was! She was known by her fans as Two Fisted Mama - piano pounding, soul-singin' swamp boogie queen!
