PRESS RELEASE INFO Dinobone Music is pleased to announce their release by recording artist Kim Milai, a CD for young children, titled Dinobone, Dinobone, Have You Heard?. Kim's arrangements of multicultural children's folk songs are hip, clever and kid-tested, maybe best described as 'Bjork meets Raffi.' Dinobone, Dinobone, Have You Heard? proves that folk music can be modernized for kids without taking away from it's traditional value. Kim produced it as if it were an adult pop recording. She says, 'I wanted the music to have a fun, modern and alternative edge. The songs are sweet but not syrupy.' The title of the CD comes from the song 'Dinobone, Dinobone,' which is a reworking of the traditional 'Ham-bone, Ham-bone' with a dinosaur twist. The CD includes active songs and quiet songs from different cultures...songs that reflect a variety of moods for a wide range of listeners. Her primary goal is that kids under six have a blast singing, listening and moving to the music. Songs like 'Dinobone, Dinobone' and 'All Around the Kitchen' exemplify her approach. Concurrent with the CD's release, Kim is taking her show on the road. And she's developed a stage act to grab kids' attention. Instead of strumming a guitar, she bounces around on stage playing electronic mallet percussion, while singing and mugging with her puppet, Dinobone. One of the highlights of the show is Kim reading 'The Story of Dinobone' to the kids. She starts her tour in Northern California, expands it throughout the rest of the state, and plans to tour nationwide. About Kim Milai Kim Milai has always led a double life - an elementary music teacher by day and a rock drummer by night. As part of the New York City music scene, Kim played drums with various alternative, pop and punk bands, sharing the stage with the B52's, Cyndi Lauper, Marianne Faithful, Live, Matthew Sweet, and Living Colour. During the day she taught general music in New York City elementary schools. Over the years she developed her own unique teaching style, using puppets, movement and a multicultural blend of songs to keep the kids involved and enthused. Her desire to share her love of music -and music making- brought her to California as the curriculum manager for Piano Discovery, an innovative software program that helps users learn to play the piano through their computer. She poured herself into a kids version of Piano Discovery, and it went on to earn five-star reviews and awards such as the National Parental Seal of Approval, ComputED's Best Children's Educational Software, and Newsweek's Editor's Choice. Kim missed making music with kids and she returned to teaching. At the same time she began work on her CD, basically doing it all: producing, arranging, engineering, playing and singing. The result, for the benefit of kids everywhere, is Dinobone, Dinobone, Have You Heard?.
