About Kruno... Krunoslav “Kruno' Spisic has exploded onto the scene with his exciting blend of Gypsy Jazz and Balkan fusion that exÂ-hilarates audiences. Recent highlights include a standing ovation at New York’s famous Birdland Djangofest, tour enÂ-gagements with the world famous Dorado Schmitt, and his debut album “Kruno Gypsy Jazz Guitar' under Gypsy Jazz Distributing. His first instrument was of Eastern European decent called the Tambura, a four tone mandolin from modern day CroaÂ-tia. Growing up amongst ethnic Slavs and Roma, Kruno was exposed to many forms of art and music from the Balkans and it's Gypsies. It was not until studying guitar at University that Kruno was introduced to Django-style guitar and began a passionate study of the Gypsy Jazz genre. Kruno started playing the ToÂ-ronto jazz circuit where he gained an extensive repertoire and a more mature understanding of the gypsy jazz idiom. In January of 2002, Kruno moved to the US and formed the Kruno Spisic Gypsy Jazz Ensemble. He has joined forces with rhythm guitar player and internationally recognized composer, Vjekoslav Dimter, bassist Scott Churchman, CimÂ-balom virtuoso Alex Fedoriouk and charismatic accordionÂ-ist, Vlado Mollov to spread this exciting music throughout the world. Kruno and company create a new branch of gypÂ-sy jazz by fusing folk traditions with Django swing. This new merging of sounds enthralls audiences with it's sweet meloÂ-dies and hot Gypsy jazz. Kruno has performed at folk festivals and jazz clubs all over the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan, bringing this unique blend of swing and folk themes to elated audiences. APPEARANCES...
