Mama's Gravy Biography Formed in Sacramento, California, in 1994, Mama's Gravy was founded by Ken Rudúlph, Vince Mellone, Joel McDonell and Chris Jackson. Over the years the band included the musical talents of; John S. Mullick IV, Eddie Jorgensen, Jeff Dyer, Matt McKinnon, Jeremy White, Slade Anderson and Adam Parsley. The band distinguished itself on the Northern California scene with it's unique fusion of funk, rock, soul and classic rhythm and blues, drawing it's influences from Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Fishbone, Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsies and Funkadelic. MG's catalogue includes it's 1997 critically acclaimed debut CD, "Cigarettes & Soulfood," followed by "From the Root to the Fruit" in 1998, "Attack of the 3-Headed Funkazoid FreakloveMonster" in 2001 and "Return of the Funkazoid" in 2005. Reviews "Mama's Gravy combines two parts funk, one part rock and a pinch of soul. Mama's Gravy starts with the basics: strong, soulful vocals, solid guitar riffs and a hold it all together bass lines." Three out of four stars. Heather Wood, Long Beach Press-Telegram "One of the most important ingredients of Mama's Gravy is the vocals. Ken Rudulph has a powerful, smooth, bluesy and captivating voice that provides as much punch to the songs as the playing by the band." Four out of five stars Brad Deluchi The Grind "This (Cigarettes & Soulfood) is what we listened to doin' the paper while everyone else in town was at their CD release show."
