Philippe Manoury is one of the most important French composers working today and is a pioneer in combining music with live electronics. With Le Temps, Mode D'emploi (Time - a User's Guide) he created an evening-length work about the phenomenon of time and various possibilities for sculpting and experiencing it. Two real pianos positioned in the middle of the hall are surrounded by four virtual pianos that sound from loudspeakers. This highly complex work is dedicated to the Grau Schumacher Piano Duo, who premiered it in 2014 in Witten, Germany in cooperation with the SWR Experimental studio and have worked again with them here to produce the studio recording for this CD.
