The roots of the Cuban bolero form can be traced back to the Trova movement, led by itinerant musicians, trovadores, who earned their living singing and playing guitar. Trova musicians have played an important part in the evolution of Cuban music and have contributed a great many compositions to the Cuban musical canon; helping spread Cuban music throughout the world. Singer, guitarist and composer Maria Teresa Vera, who began recording in 1911, was perhaps the greatest trovadore of the 20th Century, a national folk hero who was the embodiment of Cuban song, with a career that spanned five decades. Presented here is one of her most famous compositions, the habanera "Viente Aeos," coupled with "Y Tu Que Has Hecho." Newly remastered.
