What Could Be is my third CD release as a leader and my first release for the new Speak Jazz label. My previous two releases, The N. Glenn Davis Quartet A Different View and Come Right In The N. Glenn Davis Quintet featuring Phil Woods appear on the Jazzed Media label. This recording represents the collaborative efforts of three veteran jazz musicians performing in the piano trio tradition. In my many years of playing jazz I have always enjoyed the unique group interaction offered in the piano trio setting. I find it appealing when each member has a role, yet there still remains a special balance and equality in the communication. Joining me on this recording are pianist Mark Soskin and bassist Peter Dominguez whose incredible talents and creativity ultimately shaped the character of this trio. This recording features three of my compositions and three by pianist Mark Soskin, as well as three carefully selected classics, "The Dolphin" by Brazilian composer Luiz Eca, "Blackberry Winter" by Alec Wilder, and "Sometime Ago" by Sergio Mihanovich. Sit back and enjoy What Could Be. - N. Glenn Davis N. Glenn Davis is a drummer, recording artist, composer, and educator who leads his own jazz trio, quartet and quintet. Glenn, a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston and a student of master drummer Alan Dawson, has performed with many notable musicians such as, Mike Stern, Santi Debriano, Emil Viklicky, Jeff Richman, Steve Turre, Mark Soskin, Phil Woods, Harry Allen and others. Glenn also holds a Masters degree in Music from The University of Akron. This is Glenn's third CD release as a leader. Mark Soskin has recorded and performed with such diverse musicians as Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, Randy Brecker, Billy Cobham, Buster Williams, and the list goes on and on. One of Mark's most notable experiences was his 14 years touring the world and recording with Sonny Rollins. As a leader Mark has eleven recordings to his name. Mark also teaches at The Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Some of Mark's recent projects include performances and recordings with The New York Voices, Roseanna Vitro, and drummer Steve Smith.
