Charlie Poole and the North Carolina Ramblers, the second volume in Old Blue Records' TRIBUTE SERIES, was one of the most popular bands in country music's early years. In Poole's first recording session, the 78 Don't Let Your Deal Go Down/Can I Sleep in Your Barn Tonight Mister sold 102,000 copies! As Hank Sapoznik wrote in the booklet that accompanied the three CD box set, YOU AIN'T TALKIN' TO ME - CHARLIE POOLE AND THE ROOTS OF COUNTRY MUSIC, "CHARLIE POOLE AND THE NORTH CAROLINA RAMBLERS HAD RECORDED THE FIRST CERTIFIABLE COUNTRY MUSIC MEGA HIT." Today, Poole's tunes still get recorded frequently...just look at the reviews of CDs in magazines specializing in old-time music. Kinney Rorrer (great nephew to Poole and blood great nephew to Posey Rorer) and his band, the New North Carolina Ramblers, have long paid tribute to Charlie Poole. All of their first recordings in1968 and the three Old Blue CDs they recorded in recent years included tunes Poole recorded. None of these are repeated here. Long-time friends and band members, Jeremy Stephens and Darren Moore, once again join Kinney. In addition, on four tracks, Corrina Logston adds an excellent second fiddle.
