Recorded between 1959 and 1961 with Ornette's classic quartet of Don Cherry, Charlie Haden and Ed Blackwell (with the notable additions of Scott LaFaro and Jimmy Garrison on a couple of tracks) this record, though not nearly as well known as This Is Our Music or the Shape of Jazz to Come, is every bit as impressive. Improvisational but still swinging, this is a classic record from one of jazz's true originators. Contains liner notes.
