Patrick Lindley's flowing musical meditations are designed to enhance a state of spiritual, emotional, and physical peace in the listener. Tracks one and nine are improvisations on one of the oldest and best-loved Western hymns, VENI CREATOR SPIRITUS (COME, CREATOR SPIRIT). The hymn dates from the 9th century, and invokes the help of the spirit to attain a mental state of joy and enlightenment. Set to a haunting, timeless melody, the hymn asks the spirit to make our hearts overflow with love, to strengthen our patience, and lead us to peace. Patrick Lindley......after receiving two Masters degrees from the New England Conservatory, Mr.Lindley was the first harpsichordist to receive the prestigious Beebe Award for study and travel in Europe, where he worked with Nadia Boulanger in Paris and Gustav Leonhardt in Amsterdam. He has served on the faculties of the New England Conservatory,Goucher College, Occidental College,California State University Los Angeles, California State University Long Beach.Presently, he is Principal Musician for the Dance Department of the University of California Santa Barbara where he also has been active as a composer in all medias.
