Raul Koczalski was a Polish pianist who studied with Chopin's pupil Karol Mikuli and went on to become one of the most acclaimed Chopin interpreters of the early 20th century. Koczalski's command resulted not only from his inborn sympathy with his countryman's style, but from his understanding of musical styles and pianism as Chopin understood them. Accented gorgeously with a masterful cantabile rubato, Koczalski makes the familiar rhythms and melodies dance with unassuming grace.
