Born Stephen Lawrence Suffet in Brooklyn, New York, in 1947, Steve Suffet describes himself as an old fashioned folksinger in the People's Music tradition. His repertoire is a mixture of topical-political songs, Woody Guthrie songs, old time country music, blues, railroad and trucker songs, ballads, and anything else that tickles his fancy, including his own compositions written in traditional style. This CD consists of fifteen live recordings of Steve's performances at various venues in the USA, Israel, and the United Kingdom from 2005 to 2010. Some of these recordings were the house mixes taken from the sound board, some were the audio tracks of video recordings, and one was a bootleg recording made by someone in the audience without Steve's prior knowledge. No one originally intended to release any of these recordings on a CD. Nevertheless, sound engineer Ray Korona worked his usual magic and turned whatever raw material he was given into a very presentable product. Steve's good friend Anne Price sings with him on six of the tracks . Anne is an established artist in her own right, and Steve is both honored and delighted whenever they perform together. Three of the tracks were each recorded at a Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash round robin songfest in New York City, with the audience singing along and with the other musicians providing instrumental and vocal accompaniment.
