These early, "live" recordings of The Teddy Powell Orchestra were recorded at The Famous Door in New York City on September the 21st 1939, Gunther Field, Montgomery, Alabama on November the 4th 1943 featured on Armed Forces Radio Service program 197, Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas December the 31st 1943 featured on Armed Forces Radio program 246. The the final track, One O'Clock Jump which was recorded at The Hollywood Palladium on December the 20th 1943 and was featured on Armed Forces Radio Service program One Night Stand 86. The excellent line-up includes amongst others: Gus Bivona, Pete Mondello, Boots Musulli, Charlie Ventura, Milt Bernhart and Gene Howard who was to go on to be a vocalist with the Stan Kenton Orchestra.
