The Danny Smith Project: Alternative Traditional Music / Rock band formed in 2008 with Azusa Tanase on violin, Hidemasa Takayama on guitar / pedal steel, Hiroshi Kajino on tenor banjo / guitar, Isshin Kawahara on contrabass and Dan Torigoe on piano / harmonium / drums / 5 string banjo / vocal. In 2010 they released their first album 'The Instant Musical', followed by their second album 'Heartland Revisited' in 2012, which were acclaimed by English Folk legend Vashti Bunyan. They have also performed at Summer Sonic, which is one of the biggest music festivals in Japan. 'Good luck with folk music.' - Vashti Bunyan Happy Old Man: This EP is first US release for the band, and was inspired by Irish postcards from 1907, which are describing the story of old Irish tune 'My Irish Rosie'. All 4 songs are analog-recordings with various instruments such as string quartet, oboe, clarinet, banjo, harmonium, and uilleann pipes. They are depainting a pure love story on the postcards that a man is delightfully singing, 'My Irish Rosie, come out love and spoon'...
