The Lonesome Valley Ramblers have been performing roots rock and country folk music in the Washington, DC area since 2010. In that time they have created a significant body of original gospel influenced music, including such songs as 'Like a Freight Train,' '23,' and 'Miner's Prayer' which are featured on this debut EP. While their performing line-up features two guitars, bass, and drums, they added a horn section (alto sax, trumpet, trombone) on two tracks for this EP - 'Lose Myself Somewhere,' and the gospel-reggae, '23.' You'll also hear banjo, piano, and organ on several of the tracks from the plum pitiful country of 'Broken and Blue' to a song that defies categorization, 'Miner's Prayer.' Recorded, mixed, and mastered over the course of four days in July and August 2012 at Airshow in Takoma Park, MD, Like a Freight Train is a spirited and eclectic debut that has been embraced by fans and that will delight newcomers to the sound of this unique and up and coming band.
