'Keller's songwriting and arrangements are outstanding. His music is fresh and upbeat, yet he retains the storytelling principles of folk music. The album has a Tex-Mex influence to it which is especially appealing. Originally from Los Angeles, Keller at one time spent a year immersed in the traditional music of southern Appalachia. He left there by bus and traveled around the country, eventually settling in Texas. After eight years, he left Texas and now lives in New Mexico. His music has traces of country, pop, and blues. He tells stories of the American Southwest, hard-working people, and those who live south of the border and yearn for a life in America. His influences range from Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen to Delbert McClinton and Jesse Winchester. 'No Stranger to Wishes' was recorded in Austin with local musicians and contains beautiful songs. Especially good are 'Spanish Johnny,' a soulful song, and 'Darcy's Song,' a tender tune written for his daughter.' -- Tulsa World ''No Stranger to Wishes' sports a full backing band and Keller's arrangements involve considerable use of mandolin and fiddle. His poetic lyricism introduces a range of curious characters, and the album's standout track 'Across the Borderland' addresses the border immigration issue. Although his lyrics and Dylan-esque talking vocals are rooted in the folk tradition, Keller concedes that, musically, his compositions owe more to the Flying Burrito Brothers and Bob Wills than to Dylan, which explains why 'No Stranger to Wishes' alternates between uptempo Texas swing and country rock and more traditional, country-flavored ballads.' -- Dave Mawson, Worcester Telegram (Massachusetts) Complete lyrics, credits, and graphics for all of Keller's albums are available online at TimKellerArts.com. Musicians on 'No Stranger to Wishes' included Leonard Cohen's guitarist Mitch Watkins and drummer Steve Meador, George Strait's fiddler Gene Elders, plus Paul Glasse on mandolin, Spencer Starnes on bass, with harmony vocals by Doug Hudson & Denice Franke ('Hudson & Franke') and Janice Ryals-Rogers & Elliott Rogers ('The Ramblers'). Keller played his own Martin HD-28 guitar throughout.
