-2067-2 (2011) Vladimir KOSTADINOVIC 'Course Of Events' The highly talented, ambitious, energetic and award winning drummer invited some of the new stars of USA Jazz for his contemporary quartet : Jimmy Greene (Sax), Danny Grissett (Piano) and Matt Brewer (Bass). Fresh and interactive is their sound, quality and fun seem to meet here in a perfect way! The highly talented, ambitious, energetic and award winning drummer Vladimir Kostadinovic (Berkley College of Music - Boston 2002: Best Scholarship; Tuscia in Jazz 2008, Jimmy Woode competition: Best Drum Player) has Vienna as center for living and working since several years already. His sphere of action though covers actually the whole globus: He played (a.o) already festivals in the United States, Scotland, Germany, Holland, of course Austria, Italy, Slovakia, his homeland Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia. He shared the stage a.o. with Danny Grissett, Kiyoshi Kitagawa, Tony Monaco, Rob Bargad, Dusko Gojkovic, Jonathan Powell, Jaka Kopac, Marko Crncec, Renato Chicco, Fritz Pauer, Harry Sokal, Herwig Gradischig, Chris Jefferson, Eddi Palermo, Flavio Boltro, Stjepko Gut... This recent album shows his farsightedness as well: The musicians he invited in the studio meanwhile are absolute newstars of Jazz in the USA: Jimmy Greene (Sax), Danny Grissett (Piano) and Matt Brewer (Bass). The result of this cooperation: A very fresh, inspired and dynamic recording, made in Brooklyn, USA. Bandleader Vladimir Kostadinovic is responsible for all the interesting compositions except for Duke Ellington's Sound Of Love by Charles Mingus and Hey, It's Me You Are Talking To of Victor Lewis. The Quartet will soon go on tour with this fi ne programm! Vladimir Kostadinovic - drums Jimmy Greene - tenor saxophone Danny Grissett - piano Matt Brewer - bass Recorded on Sept, 15 th, 2009 at PKRS Studio Brooklyn New York by Peter Karl. Produced by: Vladimir Kostadinovic Mixed and Mastered by: Peter Karl Engineered by: Peter Karl Photography by: Dejan Tomic and Stefan Sladic I have had the great fortune of witnessing the astonishing musical growth of Vladimir at Kunst Universität in Graz, where I served as his professor. The music you have purchased on this CD gives vivid testimony to the power, skill, grace and sensativity that he lends to this material. 'Tour Through The Universe' is aptly named. Here we are taken on a musical journey, pausing periodically along the mathematically defined outer bounds of the planet. We are navigated through meter divisions with the alacrity and adroitness of Magellan. T.Howard Curtis III I was fortunate to meet Vladimir at a summer education clinic and competition festival in Italy. At that time he was one of the drummers competing and of course attending the clinics. Being one of the judges I sat among the finest musicians in the world as we were all in awe watching him perform. I was so amazed that the following year I scheduled a tour stop in Scotland to play a whole week together with Vladimir in Edinburg. It's a great honor for me to write these liner notes. His fluent language which is both steeped in traditions and yet inventively modern is further evidenced by his mastery on this project. Personally knowing his history and becoming friends. I can say that he has built an already bright career and future that is only limited by the stars!! I know you will enjoy this wonderful recording. Congratulations and God Bless. Tony Monaco German infosheet Der hochtalentierte, aufstrebende und mehrfach ausgezeichnete (Berkley College of Music - Boston 2002: Best Scholarship. Bandleader Vladimir Kostadinovic zeichnet für die interessanten Kompositionen ausser: Duke Ellington's Sound Of Love von Charles Mingus und Hey, It's Me You Are Talking To von Victor Lewis. Das Quartet wird mit dem Programm auch auf Tournee gehen!
