EU-only two CD set containing all existing recordings made by the great Coleman Hawkins at the Village Gate in 1962, originally issued on two different Verve LPs - COLEMAN HAWKINS ALIVE AT THE VILLAGE GATE and HAWKINS! ELDRIDGE! HODGES! ALIVE AT THE VILLAGE GATE. While most of the music here presents Hawk in a quartet format backed by a trio led by Tommy Flanagan, the saxophonist is joined on three long tracks by fellow stars Roy Eldridge and Johnny Hodges. A complete live sextet set by Hawkins and Eldridge recorded in England in 1958, and appearing here on CD for the first time ever, has been added as a bonus.
