The most influential tenor sax player in the history of modern jazz, Coleman Hawkins remains a jazz icon. The rare single presented here was recorded in late 1953 for Chicago's Parrot label, destined for Chicago's Black jukebox trade. Although the information on these sessions are sketchy, it is believed that Hawk was accompanied by Leo Blevins on guitar and Les Strand on organ; the drummer is thought to be Buddy Smith. Featured here is "Blue, Blue Days" coupled with "What a Difference a Day Makes," which includes an unidentified choir. Newly remastered.
